The brief was to create an experience that drew inspiration from contemporary India and our diverse design culture whilst being relevant today. What came up was a muted palette with tones of whites and beiges offset with accents of rusts and olive. The design reflects an Indian sensibility through light textured walls, block printed local linen fabric, solid wood, rustic earthenware and reimagined Mandala art in a soulful manner. The materiality and design approach stemmed from a sense of grounding and earthiness. We want the space to feel handmade, local, sustainable yet relevant to a modern Indian customer. We designed elements with local travertine stone, carved Oakwood timbers, tactile texture paints and natural fabrics are to ensure that we stayed true to the concept. The layering of textures was crucial to bring the space to life.
