Jolene is one of those projects where the concept is derived entirely from the site context. Inspired by the soothing views and hues of the ocean and calming atmosphere of the tropical landscape around, the design intent was always to create something that makes the beauty of the surroundings shine. An authentic material palette comprising of honed natural limestone, textural plastered walls, bamboo and raffia that bring forth a raw and organic sensibility are combined with rich accents of oakwood, travertine clad pillars and brushed brass which come together to create a balance between the raw and refined. A carefree, celebratory, festive and flirty spirit runs through the ambience of the space. The sprawling open plan space holds a variety of seating options: intimate cabanas, plush sofas perched on the sea side, dining tables and taller seats at the bar creating different zones of interest for multiple experiences offering both privacy and sense of connection. The conscious use of a montone, soothing, light and mellow color palette dominated by shades of whites and beiges that blend in with ease with the site context that celebrates the ocean helped us achieve a smooth transition of ambience. This layered with soft, indirect lighting and the use of organic materials like bamboo, raffia and wood make the space feel warm and inviting from the day to the night. As the sun sets, everything rises at Jolene- the music, the mood and the spirit.
