Kokkam was envisioned as a slice of Southern India, embracing the warmth and charm of traditional South Indian interiors. We chose an earthy color palette of rust, terracotta, and browns to evoke a sense of rootedness. Materials like brick, cement, and concrete feature prominently, both in the architecture and the decor. Richly patterned tiles, reminiscent of Southern Indian homes, add texture and vibrancy, while kolam patterns bring a cultural touch to wall details and light fixtures. To add a modern twist, these traditional elements are paired with contemporary furniture and touches of art deco in the bar and select lighting fixtures. Lush palms introduce greenery and freshness, and wallpapers inspired by Southern Indian motifs further enhance the restaurant’s theme.
